Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will this HDMI audio extractor work with a PS5 or Xbox Series X at 4K?
A: The VIKEFON HDMI Audio Extractor supports HDMI 1.4b and a maximum resolution of 4K@30Hz. Devices like the PS5 and Xbox Series X output 4K only when connected to HDMI 2.0-compliant displays and cables. As this unit is HDMI 1.4b, the 4K output option will not be available with those specific devices, though the audio extraction will still function at supported resolutions.
Q: Can I use the optical S/PDIF and 3.5mm AUX outputs at the same time?
A: Yes — the VIKEFON audio extractor supports simultaneous output through both the optical S/PDIF (TOSLINK) port and the 3.5mm AUX stereo jack, so you can connect both a soundbar via optical and headphones via AUX at the same time.
Q: Does this extractor support HDMI ARC or eARC?
A: No. This device does not support HDMI ARC or eARC. It is designed to extract audio from an HDMI video signal going into a display — you cannot connect its HDMI output port to an AV receiver for audio return channel functionality.
Q: Why is there no audio or just noise when I use the 3.5mm AUX port?
A: When using the 3.5mm AUX stereo output, you must set your HDMI source device's audio mode to PCM 2CH (stereo). If the source is set to output Dolby Digital or DTS (multichannel formats), the AUX port will not produce audio or may output noise. The optical S/PDIF output handles multichannel audio formats.
Q: Does this device need an external power adapter?
A: The extractor is powered via USB Type-C and a USB power cable is included in the box. However, a USB power adapter (wall plug) is NOT included — you can power it from a TV USB port, laptop, or any standard USB charger you already own.
