Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will this HDMI audio extractor work with my PS5 or Xbox Series X at 4K?
A: The VIKEFON HDMI Audio Extractor is HDMI 1.4b and supports a maximum video passthrough of 4K@30Hz. The PS5, PS4 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S require HDMI 2.0 for 4K output, so 4K resolution may not be available through this unit with those consoles. It will still work for audio extraction and lower resolutions.
Q: Can I use the 3.5mm AUX and optical S/PDIF outputs at the same time?
A: Yes — the VIKEFON 4K HDMI Audio Extractor supports simultaneous output from both the optical S/PDIF (Toslink) and the 3.5mm stereo AUX ports, so you can connect two audio devices at once.
Q: Does the HDMI audio extractor support surround sound?
A: Yes, it supports up to 5.1CH surround sound via the optical S/PDIF output — however, your video source must be set to output 5.1CH audio. The 3.5mm AUX output supports stereo PCM 2CH only.
Q: Does it support HDMI ARC or eARC?
A: No — this unit does not support HDMI ARC or eARC. It is an audio extractor, not an ARC adapter. Do not connect the HDMI output to an AV receiver expecting audio return channel functionality.
Q: What powers the HDMI audio extractor?
A: It is powered via a USB cable (included in the box). A USB power adapter is not included — you can use any standard USB charger or a USB port on your TV or console.
